Getting Started

What documents do I need to apply for my learner's licence?

You need your South African ID document or valid passport (foreign nationals also need a traffic register number). You must be at least 18 years old for a Code C1 (Code 10) learner's licence.

You'll also need two ID-sized photos and an eye test certificate — most testing centres do the eye test on-site but they are not reliable. It is just easier to bring your own. You must pay the Testing Centre R108 for the appointment fee and R60 for the issue fee. The waiting period for a test date is 1–2 weeks.

Do you pick me up and drop me off for Code C1 lessons?

No. You must come to us or you can also meet us at the training yard in Lynnwood or Kilner Park.

What areas in Pretoria and Centurion do you cover?

Not sure if we cover your area? Send us a WhatsApp and we'll confirm immediately.

Lessons & Training

How many driving lessons do I need before I can take my driver's licence test?

There's no legal minimum, but we recommend at least 10 hours (five 2-hour lessons) for someone with no prior experience. If you've had some practice with a family member, you may need fewer.

During your first lesson, your instructor will assess your skill level and give you an honest recommendation. We'd rather tell you upfront how many lessons you need than have you fail the test and waste money on rebooking fees. Every person is different — some need 6 hours, others need 20.

How long is each driving lesson?

One lesson is 1 hour. We prefer 2-hour lessons as they are more productive. This is the industry norm and for good reason — the first few minutes are warm-up, and real learning happens once you're comfortable. A 1-hour lesson is too short to cover both parking practice and road driving effectively.

The typical 2-hour session breaks down to approximately:

  • 30 minutes of road driving to the practice area
  • 1 hour of parking and manoeuvre practice
  • 30 minutes of road driving back

This gives you a balanced mix of road experience and test-specific skills every session.

Do you offer Code 8 (B) lessons?

Yes. We have light motor vehicles available. Contact us directly for lesson pricing and availability. We'll also advise you on the specific requirements.

Test Day

What is the K53 driving test and how does it work?

The K53 is South Africa's official driving test standard. Your driver's licence test has two parts:

Yard test (pre-trip inspection + manoeuvres): You'll do a vehicle safety check, then demonstrate parking manoeuvres and an incline start (hill start).

Road test: You'll drive on public roads with an examiner, demonstrating K53-standard observations (mirror checks, blind spots, following distance) and vehicle control at intersections, traffic lights, roundabouts, and lane changes.

We train you specifically for K53 requirements so there are no surprises on test day. Our instructors know exactly what the examiners at Centurion and Waltloo testing centres look for.

Can I use your truck for the driving licence test?

Yes. We provide the vehicle for your test day. You'll use the same vehicle you've been training in, so there are no surprises with clutch feel, mirrors, or steering. This is a big advantage — walking into your test in a familiar vehicle makes a real difference to your confidence.

I failed my driving test. What now?

Don't stress — it happens more often than people think, and it doesn't mean you're a bad driver. The K53 test is strict and examiners mark on specific observations that even experienced drivers forget.

Here's the plan:

  • We rebook your test at the testing centre (there may be a waiting period).
  • Book 2–4 refresher lessons so your instructor can focus specifically on whatever caused the failure — whether it was observations, parking, or nerves.
  • We'll get your test report and build your refresher training around exactly what went wrong.
